Turkish Statistical Institute announced inflation figures for March. Inflation was 50.51 percent annually.

The change in CPI (2003=100) in March 2023 is 2.29% compared to the previous month, 12.52 % compared to December of the previous year, 50.51% compared to the same month of the previous year and according to the twelve-month averages It was realized as 70.20.

The main group that showed the least increase compared to the same month of the previous year was clothing and shoes with 17.27%. On the other hand, the main group with the highest increase compared to the same month of the previous year was restaurants and hotels with 70.73%.

In terms of main expenditure groups, the main group that showed the least increase in March 2023 compared to the previous month was clothing and shoes with -1.92%. On the other hand, the main group with the highest increase compared to the previous month in March 2023 was education with 6.30% (indices, weights and change rates according to main expenditure groups are in Annex Table-1).

In March 2023, out of 143 main titles covered in the index (Individual Consumption Classification by Purpose-COICOP 5-Level), the index of 24 main titles decreased, while the index of 8 main titles remained unchanged. There was an increase in the index of 111 basic titles.

Change in CPI excluding unprocessed food products, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold is 2.19% compared to the previous month in March 2023, 12.27% compared to December of the previous year, 52% compared to the same month of the previous year. DOMESTIC PRODUCER PRICE INDEX (D-PPI) INCREASED BY 62.45% ANNUAL AND 0.44% MONTHLY

MANUFACTURING INDEX IN FOUR MAIN SECTORS OF INDUSTRY INCREASED 55.19% ANNUALLY

Annual changes in the four sectors of the industry; 80.42% increase in mining and quarrying, 55.19% increase in manufacturing, 95.46% increase in electricity and gas production and distribution and 95.48% increase in water supply.

Annual changes of the main industrial groups; The increase was 46.96% in intermediate goods, 54.84% in durable consumer goods, 85.23% in non-durable consumer goods, 79.99% in energy and 51.86% in capital goods.

MANUFACTURING INDEX FROM FOUR MAIN SECTORS OF INDUSTRY INCREASED 2.02% MONTHLY

Monthly changes in the four sectors of the industry; mining and quarrying increased by 1.48%, manufacturing increased by 2.02%, electricity and gas production and distribution decreased by 13.28% and water supply increased by 2.62%.

Monthly changes of main industrial groups; 1.86% increase in intermediate goods, 2.03% increase in durable consumer goods, 4.24% increase in non-durable consumer goods, 9.32% decrease in energy and 1.28% increase in capital goods.

17 SUB-SECTORS HAVE CHANGED LOWER AND 12 SUB-SECTORS HIGHER COMPARED TO ANNUAL D-PPI

The lowest annual increase; It was realized in the sub-sectors of coke and refined petroleum products with 1.99%, basic metals with 19.04% and metal ores with 30.93%. On the other hand, other mining and quarrying products with 127.88%, beverages with 122.07% and other non-metallic mineral products with 103.85% were the sub-sectors where the indexes increased the most.

9 SUB-SECTORS HAVE CHANGED LOWER AND 20 SUB-SECTORS HIGHER COMPARED TO THE MONTHLY D-PPI

The highest monthly decrease; Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning with 13.28%, coke and refined petroleum products with 4.75%, crude oil and natural gas with 0.68%. On the other hand, food products, fabricated metal products, 4.12% excluding machinery and equipment, wood and cork products (excluding furniture) were the sub-sectors with the highest increase in indices with 3.78%.
