Yeşim, Shot in Head at Police Lodging, Laid to Rest
Gunshots were heard from the police lodgings of the Demirci Police Department building on April 14th around 8:00 am. The police teams entered the room where Deputy Commissioner DY was staying and found Yeşim Akbaş, a beauty salon owner, shot in the head. Despite all efforts by doctors, Akbaş could not be saved and passed away.
After the incident, DY was detained by gendarmerie command teams and later released on condition of judicial control by the court. It was discovered that the gun used to shoot Akbaş belonged to DY. As a result, DY was suspended and a forensic medicine institution awaited the result of his hand swab despite the possibility of murder.
An autopsy report prepared by the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute confirmed that Akbaş died due to a gunshot wound, and a detailed autopsy report would be prepared after the laboratory examination of the samples taken from the corpse.
The funeral of Akbaş was held in her hometown of Kütahya. A funeral prayer was held at Halilpaşa Mosque in the Simav district, and Akbaş was buried in the Yenimahalle Cemetery after the prayer. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
