
Winners of TRNC Vocational High School Knowledge and Skills Competition Awarded Prizes

TRNC Vocational High School Knowledge and Skills Competition Concludes
The TRNC Vocational High School Knowledge and Skills Competition, held in cooperation with the Eastern Mediterranean University, the Ministry of National Education and the Vocational Technical Education Department, was recently completed with the participation of 199 students from 12 vocational high schools.
The competition saw students compete in various fields such as cuisine, electricity, electronics, accounting, cocktails, service, general tourism, informatics, computers, graphics and photography at the EMU Tourism Faculty and Computer and Technology High School.
During the competition, 68 representatives from universities in the TRNC and 58 jury members who are experts in their fields evaluated the performances of the students.
The winners of the competition were presented with awards at EMU Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the singing of the national anthem, followed by speeches. Director of Vocational Technical Education Department Gülşen Hocanın, highlighted the importance of vocational education, stating that their aim was to develop a productive society and productive youth.
Eastern Mediterranean University Rector, Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın, reminded attendees that they held the first competition last year and that they gave scholarships to successful young people. He also mentioned that they would continue to give scholarships to the young people who ranked in this year’s competition in the same way.
Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, who also attended the ceremony, emphasized the importance of vocational education, stating that „production is indispensable“. He further mentioned that at this point, competitions like these and the certification of young people at the end of the competition are crucial in moving vocational education forward.
During the awards ceremony, the students and teachers who ranked in the competition were presented with their awards and success certificates by Minister Çavuşoğlu.
This competition is a step forward for vocational education in the TRNC and will inspire young minds to pursue careers in various fields.
