It was learned that Arslan committed suicide by hanging himself in his ward. It was learned that an investigation was started regarding Arslan’s suicide. Alparslan Arslan’s body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy. The exact cause of death will be determined as a result of the investigation.

WHO IS ALPARSLAN ASLAN?

On May 17, 2006, Alparslan Arslan attacked the 2nd Chamber committee of 5 people, who was in a meeting in the Council of State building, which he entered without showing his lawyer identity and without a body search. Judge Mustafa Yücel Özbilgin lost his life and 4 members were injured in the attack.

Arslan, who was caught trying to escape, claimed that he did the attack alone. The trial began at the Ankara 11th High Criminal Court. During the trial, it was claimed that the attack was instigated by the Ergenekon organization. It was requested that the attack file be consolidated on the grounds that it was related to the Ergenekon case. The decision of the court to the contrary was overturned by the 9th Penal Chamber of the Supreme Court in December 2008, and it was decided to merge it with the Ergenekon case. For this reason, the cases of the Council of State and Ergenekon were combined. Arslan was sentenced to two aggravated life sentences and 90 years and 3 months in prison by the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court on 5 August 2013. On November 25, 2020, he upheld the sentence given to Arslan. After his sentence was upheld, Arslan was imprisoned in Maltepe Prison. Alparslan Arslan was also referred to Erenköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Training and Research Hospital on the grounds that he had psychological problems during this process. After being treated here for a while, Arslan was put back in prison.

Alparslan Arslan was hospitalized in his first term in prison after the attack because he did not eat for a long time. Arslan set fire to his ward during his stay in Sincan F Type Prison, and was taken to the hospital after being affected by the smoke. Due to his aggressive behavior, he was constantly kept under the control of a doctor. Arslan was referred to the Forensic Medicine Institute on the grounds that he was mentally unstable during the trial, but a decision was made to the contrary.
