„Venezuelas Präsident Maduro besucht Brasilien nach 8 Jahren – Last-Minute-Weltneuigkeiten“

Venezuela will discuss joining the BRICS group formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, according to former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. He emphasized that the decision of the US, European Union (EU), and Latin American countries to recognize former opposition leader Juan Guaido as interim president in Venezuela is „absurd“. Lula said he told the Europeans that they do not accept a dishonest person as a head of state, adding, „I can’t understand you doing it.“ Meanwhile, Venezuela and Brazil have signed four agreements for cooperation in various fields, including science, technology, and tourism. Brazil’s previous president, Jair Bolsonaro, had banned Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from entering Brazil and froze diplomatic relations with Venezuela. Lula, who took office in 2023, canceled this decision and recognized Maduro as the legitimate leader of Venezuela. The new Venezuelan ambassador to Brasilia presented his letter of credence to Lula da Silva.
