Turkey Emerges as a Key Global Player in Energy: Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu recently attended an iftar program organized by the International Democrats Union (UID) in Austria to make contacts. In his speech, Çavuşoğlu emphasized the importance of maintaining healthy relationships between nations despite differences in political opinions. He specifically addressed Turkey’s relationship with Austria, which has undergone ups and downs in the past. Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey has no problems with Austria, and that the over 300,000 Turkish citizens residing in Austria serves as an important link between the two nations.
Additionally, Çavuşoğlu noted that Turkey will continue to support and protect its religious brothers and sisters, as well as stand up against Islamophobia and all forms of terrorism. He specifically mentioned the fight against PKK, YPS, DAESH, and FETO. Çavuşoğlu emphasized the importance of approaching issues with a humanitarian approach, rather than a racist one, when addressing the Syrian refugee crisis.
Notably, Çavuşoğlu also drew attention to Turkey’s role as a major global actor in energy. With the ability to send natural gas to friendly and neighboring countries, southeast countries, and Balkan countries, Turkey has become a key player in the global energy market. The country’s LNG terminal, natural gas warehouses, and pipelines, coupled with partnerships with Azerbaijan, Turkmen, Kazakh, and Uzbek brothers, are set to make the transitional East-West Central corridor the trade center of the world.
