Statements from MOK Chairman Koç

(BRT SPOR) Chairman of the TRNC National Olympic Committee, Dursun Koç, emphasized that they had difficulties in reaching the authorities while they were trying to pave the way for the country’s sports and athletes, which is the main mission of the committee.

Responding to the questions on the SPORTS AGENDA, Committee Chairman Dursun Koç pointed out that they are an organization that does not rival anyone, and that they are trying to get to international organizations and the dreamed Olympics.

Koç, who also commented, „The biggest obstacle is within ourselves,“ said, „We haven’t been able to get an appointment from the undersecretariat responsible for sports for 3 months.“

Explaining that the TRNC NOC has gone through a difficult process and attained its current structure, but is still trying to institutionalize, the President of the TRNC National Olympic Committee also mentioned that the country’s athletes show a leadership that will set an example for the addresses that should contribute to the development of the branches.

Expressing that they are after national problems and what kind of plans can be made with the stakeholders, Koç talked about the meetings with the Turkish Olympic Committee and foreign country representatives about rewarding successful athletes and membership in international federations.

Dursun Koç gave information about the attempts to be included in the „Islamic Games“ as a concrete example of these studies, and said that before the next games, the item „participation of countries with the status of observer countries to the organization“ will be on the agenda of the meeting to be held by the organization.

Explaining that they are preparing to hold a meeting with the branch federations of Turkey, which has more opportunities than the TRNC, the President of the TRNC National Olympic Committee, Dursun Koç, added that they want to ensure that the athletes participate in the Olympics with their own identities, with a common strategy to be determined.
