SİYAD 55th Turkish Cinema Awards found their owners! Best actor awards to Selahattin Paşalı and Farah Zeynep Abdullah

Turkish Cinema Awards, traditionally organized every year by the Cinema Writers Association, found their owners. Candidates in 11 categories, which were screened in cinemas last year, were determined by voting by SİYAD members. While the 55th SİYAD Turkish Cinema Award Ceremony was held at the Nejat Eczacıbaşı Hall of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, Cem Davran hosted the ceremony.

Many famous names such as Selahattin Paşalı, Ekin Koç and Emin Alper also attended the ceremony. While the Best Film award was given to ‚Arid Days‘, Emin Alper, the director of Arid Days, won the Best Director award. The Best Actress award went to Farah Zeynep Abdullah for her performance in the movie ‚Bergen‘. The Best Actor award went to Selahattin Paşalı for his successful acting in Dry Days. While the Best Screenplay award was determined to be the work of Emin Alper, the director of ‚Arid Days‘, Jale Arıkan (Kerr) for Best Supporting Actress and Erol Babaoğlu (Arid Days) for Best Supporting Actor won the awards. At the end of the award ceremony, the winners took a family photo.

Ekin Koç, who was nominated for the Supporting Actor Award, said, “I am happy to be here. I may have cheated a little. I did not win a personal award, but I was happy that most of the people who received the award were in the projects I was involved in and received awards. It was a good night for me,“ he said.

Erol Babaoğlu, who received the Best Supporting Actor award, said, “It is really important to be deemed worthy of the Best Supporting Actor award by the Cinema Writers Association (SİYAD). SİYAD is an institution that I attach great importance to, an institution that I want to continue its activities. I would like to mention Murat Özer and Sungu Çapan once again. I would like to thank the whole Dry Days team and Emin Alper. It’s really nice to be here, I want to say the most spoken words today. It will be a beautiful spring. As I said on stage, we work on remembering with us. We try to remind both good and bad by writing, playing and shooting. In an age when evil is walking on us with laughter, I feel myself with all the flowers standing upright. They can cut all the flowers on the stage, but they cannot prevent the spring from coming,“ he said.
