Prayers and Traditions for the Night of Power: How to Spend the Sacred Night

Representations about the Determination of the Night of Qadir
The Night of Power, or Laylatul Qadr, is considered one of the holiest nights in Islam. The Quran describes it as better than a thousand months, and it is believed to be the night when the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). However, there are different opinions about which night of Ramadan it falls on.
According to a narration from Zirr b. Hubaysh, Ubayy b. Rude and Ibn Mas’ud said that the night of power is in the month of Ramadan, and specifically on the 27th night. They also mentioned that the sun rises white and its rays are blinding on that day. This narration is recorded in Muslim’s Salatu’l-Musâfirîn, 179.
Another narration from Abdullah b. Umar states that the Prophet (pbuh) recommended searching for the night of power on the 27th night of Ramadan. This is recorded in Ahmed b. Hanbal’s al-Musnad, VIII, 426.
Although it is generally accepted that the night of power falls on the 27th night of Ramadan, there are differing opinions on this matter. Some believe that it could be in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan, or the last seven nights of Ramadan, as mentioned in other narrations. Therefore, it is recommended to spend the last nights of Ramadan in worship and dhikr as if they were the Night of Power.
In conclusion, the Night of Power is an important night in Islam for its significance in the revelation of the Quran. While there are different opinions on which night it falls on, Muslims should strive to spend the last nights of Ramadan in worship and remembrance of Allah.
