Oktay: We want not only TDT members but also friends of Turkey to know the TRNC.

Turkish Vice President Oktay, stating that they want the TRNC to be recognized as an observer to the Organization of Turkish States (TDT), said, “We want not only TDT but also Turkey’s friends to recognize the TRNC because there is a groaning section here under the embargo. ” said.

Oktay, who participated in the live broadcast of Anadolu Agency from Nicosia, said that Turkey’s stance on Cyprus is clear.

Oktay said, “We are talking about an island that has been ours since 1571,” and pointed to the struggle for existence of the Turkish Cypriots.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriots established their state under the name of TRNC in their own region and that they have an independent structure, Oktay said that the negotiations have been a stalling tactic for 50-60 years, the deadlock has been resolved, and the assimilation, destruction and ethnic cleansing of the Turkish Cypriots are aimed.

Saying, „As the Republic of Turkey, we will not allow this,“ Oktay stated that they have submitted a new proposal by saying that the efforts for a federal solution that lasted for 60 years are enough, that they are the Greek Cypriot part of the dada and the TRNC, and that these two structures should talk.

“The sovereign should be a structure that is recognized as equal status. This is the real solution,” Oktay said, adding that they propose a solution in which the wealth of the island will be used for the welfare of the Turks and Greeks living on the island.
