Minister Kurum spoke at the key delivery ceremony in Elazig: We are laying the foundations of our homes that have reached 67 thousand

Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony of 1164 social housing completed, as well as 505 new disaster houses in Elazig, with the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in Elazig on the 54th day of the earthquake.

In his speech at the ceremony, Minister Kurum stated that the whole country in 81 provinces felt the „disaster of the century“ earthquakes that hit 11 provinces, and that the state and the nation had betrayed and healed the wounds together from the first moment of the earthquake.

“WE ARE LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS OF 67 THOUSANDS OF HOMES IN ELAZIG”

Stating that the contracts for the houses to be built only 15 days after the earthquake were signed, the Minister Kurum said, “We laid the foundations in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Adıyaman and Kilis, accompanied by the prayers of tens of thousands of our brothers. Today, we are laying the foundations of our homes, whose number has reached 67 thousand, together with our Gakkoş in Elazig. Today we have another joy. Our brothers from Elazig are excited to find their new homes. We are handing over the keys of our new social housing to our brothers from Elazig with the presence of our President. I wish our new homes good luck. I wish our new workplaces to be fruitful.” said.

“WE CAME TO ELAZIG AGAIN, AS BROTHERS THAT KEPT THE PROMISE”

Minister Kurum stated that they stood side by side with the people of Elazig in the earthquake centered in Elazig 3 years ago, and said, “We have a very special bond with our brothers from Elazig. Three years ago, we were here again during the Elazig-centered earthquake, we were side by side, shoulder to shoulder, as today. For weeks, days, we walked around our neighborhoods, our districts, street by street with our brothers from Elazığ. We always stayed here until our brothers and sisters entered their homes. Today, with the honor of our President; We came to Elazig again, as brothers who kept their word.” said.

„WE ARE SAYING NOW, NOT TOMORROW! WE ARE STARTING TO BUILD OUR HOUSES“

Underlining that the promises made after the earthquake 3 years ago were kept, the Institution continued as follows:

“Our President promised ‚We will build 25 thousand houses in our Elazig‘, did he do it? Made! He said, ‚We will bring 8 thousand new homes to Malatya‘, did he do it? Made! ‚There was an earthquake in our beautiful Izmir, we immediately went there and said that we will transform our Izmir, neighborhood by neighborhood. We will build 5,000 homes,‘ said our President, have our homes been built? Was established! After the fires in Antalya and Muğla and the floods in the Black Sea, our President said ‚Don’t worry! The state is with you! We will deliver your new homes in 1 year‘ he said, did he deliver? It did! And now, we are saying, together, with the loudest voice, for our Elazig, for our 11 provinces, for our future, for our offspring, not tomorrow, but right now. We are starting to build our houses. We, too, make a promise to our President and our brothers from Elazig. Our new homes; We will complete it with its parks, schools, mosques and hospitals! Hopefully, with the honor of our President, we will deliver it to you in the next Ramadan! We are here until these works are finished! We are with you until you feel safe! Our hands will not leave yours. And I hope we will deliver our houses with the same understanding.”
