The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (Kıb-Tek) Board of Directors and General Directorate announced that the power cuts in the country were caused by deliberate interventions.

In a written statement made by the Kıb-Tek Board of Directors and General Directorate, it was emphasized that services should continue to be provided to the public, without forgetting that the energy demand of the citizen is a right as well as the right to strike and protest.

In the statement, it was pointed out that the grounding process, which should not be done to the devices in the transformer rooms, caused the system to be disabled, and it was pointed out that the call made to the technical staff to correct the interventions and provide energy was inconclusive.

Emphasizing that as a result of the interventions, energy could not be supplied to the public, the statement said:

“This service should continue to be provided to our people, without forgetting that elements such as strikes and demonstrations are a right, and the energy demand of the citizen is also a right. We apologize to all our people for this victimization due to EL-SEN’s failure to start work and/or not to take office.”
