Kamtschybek Taschjew ruft Universitätsleiter zur Bekämpfung von Korruption auf
Kamtschybek Tashjew, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), met with deputy ministers of education and science, university rectors, directors of technical colleges and universities, and discussed with them the issue of corruption in the education sector.
Kamchybek Tashiev reported on the work of the national security authorities and the results. According to him, a colossal damage of 168.287 billion soms was compensated to the state from October 2020 to date for the first time in history. At least 1,174 objects, including land plots, kindergartens, resorts, stadiums, and factories, were returned to the possession of the state. 1,373 individuals were criminally prosecuted.
Regarding corruption offenses in the education sector, the head of the SCNS noted that the State Committee had criminally prosecuted 34 employees of the higher education system, including rectors of four universities, 1 vice-rector, 10 directors of educational institutions, and 6 deans and their deputies, 13 teachers.
42 employees were dismissed from their positions due to their involvement in corruption. At least 207.700 million soms were reimbursed to the state.
Kamchybek Tashiev also pointed out that the analysis of initiated and investigated criminal cases showed that cases of corruption in the education sector take various forms, corruption zones, with the most common violations related to the licensing and accreditation of universities, admissions to universities, financial and economic activities, public procurement, implementation of personnel policies.
This is an incomplete list of corruption zones and risks that exist in the education sector, and individual and unscrupulous teachers and university leaders do not respect academic integrity and themselves contribute to the spread of corruption in their educational institution, he emphasized.
In accordance with the norms of the adopted law „On Amendments to Some Laws in the Field of Combating Corruption,“ the State Committee plans to reduce the level of corruption in the country to 5-10 percent in the period 2025-2026, said the Chairman of the SCNS.
„To date, the indicator is at 30 to 40 percent, while in earlier periods it was at 70 to 80 percent,“ the statement said.
The SCNS chairman called on representatives of the education system to work together to combat corruption and ultimately eradicate it completely.
