President Erdogan Accelerates and Announces Plans for Urban Transformation in Istanbul
Breaking news from Istanbul, Turkey as President Erdogan speaks at the 1st Stage Turnkey Project of Fikirtepe Urban Transformation Project and the Urban Transformation Commencement Ceremony in the 2nd and 3rd Stages.
During his speech, President Erdogan announced that there are 1.5 million residences in Istanbul that urgently need to be transformed. He went on to say that new good news would be shared on the first day of the holiday to accelerate urban transformation.
Emphasizing the importance of urban transformation projects in Turkey, President Erdogan reminded the audience of the 1 million 181 thousand TOKİ houses that have been built in 81 provinces to date. The Istanbul Fikirtepe Urban Transformation Project, with an area of 830 thousand square meters and a construction area of 2.5 million square meters, is one of the most important projects of the country.
President Erdogan stressed the need for safety and said that urban transformation projects would be approved anywhere with disaster risk, to prevent the repeat of the 1999 earthquake tragedy. It was decided that there will be no negligence or greed in the execution of urban transformation works.
The president declared that Istanbul was a priority and they are working hard to revive the earthquake zone, as the earthquake does not wait. The houses built by TOKİ after the earthquake have withstood remarkably, and there have been no issues with the 1 million 181 thousand houses built in 81 provinces. The government has provided the project of 3.3 million residences with urban transformation projects.
The Istanbul Fikirtepe Urban Transformation Project has an investment of 20 billion and will consist of 12 thousand 418 houses, where 60 thousand citizens will live. One-third of the project has been completed, and the keys of 1648 houses have been handed over to their owners.
In order to further aid the urban transformation process, the credit limit has been increased from 600 thousand liras to 1 million 200 thousand liras, and satellite cities are being planned on both the European and Anatolian sides.
President Erdogan also criticized the National Alliance and stated that his party would not allow „Mr. Mr. Kemal“ to be a candidate. He also remarked that the alliance of seven against them was formed to challenge his party, but they would make their decision on the road and blow up the chests.
