FETO operative caught abroad and brought to Turkey in last-minute operation by MIT.
Mehmet Cintosun, a former senior manager in the Azerbaijani organization of an armed terrorist group and a wanted individual on terrorism charges, was apprehended and brought to Turkey by a clandestine operation carried out by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT). Cintosun, who was in Azerbaijan from 1995 to 2014, fled to Turley and then abroad again after the failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016. He continued to support the illegal activities of the terrorist group, including providing financial and logistical assistance to members in the country through couriers affiliated with the organization. It was discovered that Cintosun established an international organization to oversee the movement’s financial activities and was in contact with top executives, such as Bahattin Karataş, Harun Tokak, and Talip Büyük. In addition to his financial activities, Cintosun also provided logistical support to individuals who attempted to illegally flee abroad. Following his capture and repatriation by the MIT, Cintosun is to stand trial in Turkey for his involvement in terrorist activities.
