Earthquake Committee Delegation met with the Turkish Grand National Assembly Earthquake Commission

The Assembly of the Republic of Turkey „The Temporary and Special Committee on the Monitoring of the Legal and Judicial Process Related to the Earthquake“ started its contacts in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

The delegation met with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Earthquake Investigation Commission, Veysel Eroğlu.

Veysel Eroğlu, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Earthquake Investigation Commission, who took the first floor at the meeting, conveyed the content of the report prepared about Isias Hotel.

Expressing that the destruction was caused by the use of low quality products, Eroğlu emphasized that Ahmet Bozkur, Mehmet Bozkurt, Fatih Bozkurt, Efe Bozkurt and hotel managers were arrested, and that the Ministry of Justice is a firm follower of this issue.

Eroğlu said, „The lives that are gone do not come back, our pain is great.“

Chairman of the TRNC Assembly Delegation, UBP Famagusta Deputy Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu talked about the purpose of the visit in his speech.

Hasipoğlu emphasized that they both came to be with the Motherland of Turkey, to contribute to the healing of the wounds, and that the main goal of the committee was to monitor the judicial process initiated in the Republic of Turkey.
Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu stated that the most comprehensive special committee was established for this process and stated that the issue is above politics and opinion.

Emphasizing that the earthquake, which is called the disaster of the century, was a great pain, Hasipoğlu stated that the Republic of Turkey is a strong state and that the wounds will be healed in a short time.

Emphasizing that they have been on the field since the first day of the earthquake, Hasipoğlu stated that they helped the people affected by the earthquake as much as they could.

Stating that 49 TRNC citizens lost their lives in this disaster , Hasipoğlu stated that an investigation was opened for every citizen .

Hasipoğlu stated that this process is a long one and said, „We have full confidence in the legal process of the Republic of Turkey.“

Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and Committee Member CTP Girne Deputy Fazilet Özdenefe also stated in her speech that the Republic of Turkey is a great and powerful state and that she will overcome this process as soon as possible.

Emphasizing that the loss of life will not come back, Özdenefe said, „We will carry the sadness within us throughout our lives.“

Emphasizing that they are happy to see that the Grand National Assembly of Turkey is following the issue closely, Özdenefe stated that they are in a committee with broad participation, representing the people and all political parties in the Assembly of the Republic.

Özdenefe expressed his condolences for those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery for the injured and emphasized that he fully believed that this process would progress quickly.

In addition to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Earthquake Investigation Commission, Mr. Veysel Eroğlu, Deputy Chairman Recep Uncuoğlu, Member Necip Nası and Turkey-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Chairman Orhan Erdem also attended the meeting.

In the TRNC delegation headed by UBP Famagusta Deputy Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu; Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and Committee Member CTP Girne Deputy Fazilet Özdenefe, Committee Vice President CTP Girne Deputy Ongun Talat, Committee Members UBP Iskele Deputy Yasemi Öztürk, UBP Nicosia Deputy Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, DP Girne Deputy Serhat Akpınar, YDP Nicosia Deputy Talip Atalay and Independent Deputy Famagusta Ayşegül Baybars and Deputy Parliamentary Legislation Expert Sevi Çağdaş Dayıoğlu.

The TRNC Ambassador to Ankara İsmet Korukoğlu was also present at the meeting.
