Celebrities Respond to Cranberry Sherbet Series‘ Broadcast Suspension
Controversy surrounds the suspension of the popular Turkish TV series, Cranberry Sherbet, as it prepares to air its 23rd episode. Social media users and well-known personalities alike have criticized the suspension, which followed five orders by the Radio and Television Supreme Council. Despite the suspension, Show TV had announced that the new episode would air on April 14, but the channel reportedly aired a public service documentary instead after receiving another warning from RTÜK. The suspension was due to the series allegedly legitimizing violence against women, leading to heated debates. Actors Nurgül Yeşilçay and Pınar Deniz, who star in other series, expressed their shock and disapproval on social media. Barış Kılıç, who plays one of the leading characters, also voiced his opinion on the issue, using the phrase „to vomit blood and drink Cranberry Sherbet“ to express his sentiments.
